Referral-Based Specialty Care for Oahu and Neighbor Islands

At Pet Specialists of Hawaii, we proudly support our referring veterinary partners by offering specialty services led by board-certified clinicians.

We prioritize communication, continuity of care, and collaborative case management from referral through recovery.

How to Refer a Patient

To streamline patient intake and support timely triage, please complete the appropriate referral form and upload relevant medical records. We recommend including:

  • Exam notes
  • Lab results
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Prior treatments from the past 12 months

Following the initial consultation, you will receive a summary and treatment plan. After any procedure, we will send a complete medical record along with follow-up recommendations to keep you fully informed at every stage.

We Prioritize Urgent Cases

Please email us or mark “urgent” on the referral form is an urgent matter.
Patients are triaged based on referral information. If a case is time-sensitive, mark it as “urgent” and contact us directly to expedite scheduling.

What to Expect

Once a referral is received, we contact the client to schedule a consultation. A completed referral form is required before an appointment is confirmed.

During the consultation:

  • We review the patient’s medical history and discuss the primary concern.
  • A full physical and specialty-specific exam (e.g., oral or orthopedic) is performed.
  • A tailored treatment plan is developed, and anesthesia protocols, cost estimates, and pre- and post-procedure care are reviewed with the client.

Consultation fee is $225.13 (including tax).

Consultations are scheduled throughout the week depending on specialty availability.

Surgical and dental procedures are typically scheduled on a future date. Overnight care is available Monday through Wednesday for post-operative patients.
